Successful Trade Mission to Colombia and opening Curaçao Tourism & Business Center


CINEX, CTB and Chamber of Commerce & Industry Curaçao jointly opened the Curaçao Tourism & Business Center during the trade mission to Colombia organized by the Chamber and Holland House Colombia.

WILLEMSTAD, BOGOTA – The Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with Holland House Colombia have organized a mission to Colombia, where local firms could meet with Colombian potential customers and / or exporters.
The first day of the mission consisted of a seminar. Mr. Willem Jonckheer, President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Curaçao gave a speech together with the President of CINEX Mr. Luis Santine Jr. about the different possibilities of trade, investment and the financial sector of the island at the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota. There were 50 Colombian companies present.

Then there was the occasion when local companies met individually with the Colombian businesses (matchmaking). This was concluded with a dinner on the first night in which the participating companies and the team of Holland House Colombia were able to get to know each other in an informal setting. The next day after the individual meetings, an opening was held for the Curaçao Tourism & Business Center located at the Holland House Colombia. This initiative was launched by CTB, CINEX and Chamber of Commerce & Industry Curaçao as a reference point for businesses of Colombia or Colombian investors interested in Curaçao.

During the opening, the President of the Chamber, Mr. Jonckheer and Mr. Hugo Clarinda, Director of CTB, spoke about the elimination of the visa requirements for Colombians per July 1, 2015, which should lead to more opportunities for trade and tourism for Curaçao. On the last day of the mission, there were local companies that still had appointments with Colombian companies before they returned to Curaçao. The mission is characterized as successful by 10 local companies. These companies are: Avalon Medical University, Curaçao Liqueur, VanEps Kunneman VanDoorne, FCIBC, InforCapital, Jamanika Consultancy, Quality Dishware, ReHair, Samson and VBK+CO.
