Colombians no longer need a visa to travel to Curaçao
WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch Minister of Foreign Relations, Bert Koenders, announced during a press conference on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 that beginning July 1 of this year, Colombian citizens wishing to visit Curaçao will not need a visa. This is something that the Government of Curaçao had decided long ago, but still lacked the approval of the Netherlands to be implemented. With the removal of the visa requirement, Colombians may not only come on holiday more easily, but there will be more business opportunities between Curaçao and Colombia. Surely this measure will generate more foreign exchange to the island.
Minister of Economic Development, Stanley Palm thanked the private sector for all the support to achieve this goal.
Venezuela has been a long time important business partner for Curaçao, but their economic and political situation has forced Curaçao to look somewhere else for a business partner. Colombia, being so close to Curaçao and going through an amazing economic growth is one of the best options for the business sector.
The only problem was the visa requirements. This problem has now been resolved and Curaçao has now all the opportunities to continue developing a strong economic relations with the South American country.
